From 25–27 January 2018, Sensei David Kacperski, 10th Dan in Kasacombat Bujutsu and head instructor at KMAA-DOJO, embarked on a special teaching invitation to the Shinkai Kempo Karate Club in Belgium. Invited by Sensei Rik Mlrt (5th Dan) and his team, David led intensive seminars that showcased the principles and techniques of Kasacombat Bujutsu to eager Belgian practitioners.
Upon arrival, Sensei Kacperski praised the club’s organisation and the dedication of its students. Day after day, participants immersed themselves in drills that blended traditional karate stances with Kasacombat’s dynamic self-defence sequences. Their precision, strength, and unwavering focus left a lasting impression on David, who noted that the true spirit of Budo was alive in every kihon and kumite exercise.
Sensei Rik Mlrt and his assistant instructors orchestrated each session with professionalism, ensuring smooth transitions between warm-ups, technique breakdowns, and partner work. This level of coordination not only maximised learning time but also fostered a welcoming atmosphere where cross-style exchange could flourish.
Reflecting on the visit, David said, “Teaching abroad is always a two-way journey. While I shared Kasacombat’s core philosophies, I also learned from Shinkai Kempo’s rich karate heritage. The mutual respect and enthusiasm in the dojo exemplify why martial arts unite us beyond borders.”
As a memento of this cultural and technical exchange, a gallery of photographs captures highlights from each seminar—moments of intense focus, shared laughter, and the awarding of commemorative certificates. KMAA-DOJO thanks Sensei Rik Mlrt and everyone at Shinkai Kempo for their exceptional hospitality and looks forward to future collaborations that deepen our collective understanding of Budo.
