On 26 November 2017, Mansfield played host to the annual Kasacombat Kumite Championships, welcoming competitors of all ages and experience levels. KMAA-DOJO sent a strong delegation of children and adults from Sheffield, Hull, Mansfield, and across Derbyshire, each eager to test their skills on the competition floor.

Event Highlights

  • A total of 120 athletes battled in under-10, under-14, under-18, and adult divisions.
  • KMAA-DOJO fighters delivered standout performances in both point-sparring and continuous-sparring formats.
  • Young karateka showcased precision and speed, while more seasoned practitioners impressed judges with power combinations and tactical footwork.

Medal Haul

KMAA-DOJO competitors returned home with an impressive collection of trophies and medals:

  • Junior Division: Multiple gold and silver medals in lightweight and middleweight kumite.
  • Teen Division: Podium finishes for both boys’ and girls’ categories.
  • Adult Division: Top-three placements that highlighted technical mastery intelligence.

Reflecting on the day, Sensei David Kacperski said, “Our students demonstrated the hard work and discipline we cultivate at KMAA-DOJO. Every match showed respect, determination, and the true spirit of Kasacombat. I couldn’t be prouder.”

Community and Camaraderie

Beyond medals, the championships fostered a strong sense of community:

  • Coaches and parents from different towns exchanged training tips and celebrated each other’s successes.
  • New friendships formed on the mat, reinforcing martial arts as a bridge between clubs and styles.
  • Spectators enjoyed a display of sportsmanship that underscored respect for opponents above all.

Looking ahead, KMAA-DOJO will channel this momentum into winter training camps and preparation for the 2018 regional championships. New members are always welcome—join us at our Mansfield dojo and become part of our next success story.
